Managing Risk through NEFAP

ABSTRACT
Field sampling and measurement organizations (FSMOs) face specific risks related to sampling and measurements that must be managed to reduce or eliminate the impact of the risk to their operations. The National Environmental Field Activities Program (NEFAP) provides requirements for FSMOs that developed from ISO/IEC 17025:2005. Implementing these requirements allows FSMOs to mitigate risk by documenting processes and maintaining records.
During this talk, we will discuss how FSMOs can mitigate risk through accreditation to the NEFAP program. Examples of risks and the outcomes of poor risk mitigation will be reviewed. Additionally, we will look to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for further guidance on identifying and addressing risks related to sampling and measurements.
