Implementing the 2016 TNI Standard

SYNOPSIS

The objective of this 16-hour course is to help laboratory management understand the requirements of the 2016 TNI Standard. The material, based on the requirements outlined in the V1M2 of the 2016 TNI standard, will "demystify" terminology, provide assistance in understanding the requirements, and provide guidance on how to incorporate the requirements of the Standard into laboratory operations without disrupting current practices.

The course will be offered through four 4-hour classes between October 27th and November 24th 2020. Individual and group activities will be assigned each session for students to work on between class meeting dates. These activities will enhance the student's ability to apply the standard to their laboratory operation.

Laboratory Assessors, Data Users, Quality Managers, Laboratory Managers

Learning Outcomes:

  • Have an understanding on how to "demystify" terminology to familiar expressions and language usage.
  • Have a better understanding of the requirements by use of the "translation" process (see first objective).
  • Have the ability to evaluate current operations against the standard requirements for compliance
  • Learn to think in terms of using current operations in developing a quality management system rather than reinventing the wheel
  • Be able to use the standard requirements to effectively develop and/or refine processes and procedures

Fees:
 $225 for TNI members and $275 for non-members
$675 group rate (5+ students) plus $50 per student over 5

Note: No certificates are automatically provided with this training. If you wish to receive a Certificate of Completion (CoC) for your records, there will be an additional $30 charge per person for the course. A passing score of at least 70% must be received on the exam in order to receive CEUs and a CoC. Scores of less than 70% will receive a Certificate of Attendance. About the Presenter:
The principals of ELCAT, LLC collectively have over 70 years of experience in laboratory and field quality management. ELCAT, LLC provides extensive training of laboratory and field personnel in sampling techniques, quality management and training that addresses the requirements of the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP). It performs readiness audits for laboratories who desire to improve their quality system for the purposes of NELAP accreditation. ELCAT presents training and presentations on quality-related topics such as method performance, data integrity, corrective and preventive actions, root-cause analysis, data usability, and the role of quality managers. The company is used exclusively by the University of Florida Center for Training, Research & Education for Environmental Occupations (TREEO) for all off-site training of field personnel. It is regularly asked to provide presentations at the Florida Society of Environmental Analysts (FSEA) meetings. ELCAT, LLC has also provided training and presentations for New York City, the State of Virginia, and The NELAC Institute (TNI).
