Why do we need a Sampling Plan?

ABSTRACT

The proposed TNI FSMO standard and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requires a sampling plan and method. This presentation will discuss the reason for sampling plans in the environmental data community. An understanding of the need for a plan and method will demonstrate how this prevents problems in the final data application. Examples will include statistical based designs and judgmental approaches to sample collection. The purpose and use of the information must be defined and understood by the sampling organization to allow correct decision in the field and measurement operations.
