ABSTRACT
Ever wish there were a way to reduce time and maximize field efforts, and at the same time improve documentation and quality, and save money?
Environmental practitioners supporting fossil utilities data collection projects have driven the development of efficiencies and automation across the industry, whether the data is environmental or asset management. Environmental Standards subject matter experts will discuss the advantages of automation using e-field forms to collect important field data.
This approach makes for training and transition of staff and contractors painless and no new forms to become familiar with.
Quality control measures can be incorporated by requiring completion of critical information (such as sample ID, coordinates, date/time, field parameters, etc.), and limiting selections of others (drop down list of who performed the sample collection, name of the Site). This decreases the occurrences of inadvertent data loss and increases the quality of the field dataset.
Asset management tools include inspection forms, photographic logs, installation records, abandonment or decommissioning records, application of purchase order numbers for each task, etc. Utilizing already planned and required field sampling efforts to track the status and condition of your assets saves time and money.
These forms are easy to use and do not require the purchase of special equipment and do not require additional software or license costs.
Once the sampling or field work is completed, the forms can be automatically forwarded to email in boxes of your choice with the push of a button; printed; and/or the field and sample information uploaded to a database.
