Notice of Proposed Revisions to TNI Fields of Proficiency Testing Tables - Comment Period Open Through July 11, 2025
Date Posted: 5-28-2025
The NELAC Institute (TNI) Proficiency Testing Program Executive Committee (PTPEC) is approving revisions to the TNI Fields of Proficiency Testing (FoPT) tables for Non-Potable Water (NPW) and Solid and Chemical Materials (SCM), specifically regarding Proficiency Testing Reporting Limits (PTRLs) and chemical nomenclature.
Summary of Changes
Non-Potable Water (NPW) Table
- Correction of the PTRL for Mercury.
- Correction of the CAS number and nomenclature for trans-Chlordane.
Solid and Chemical Materials (SCM) Table
- Correction of the CAS number and nomenclature for trans-Chlordane.
These revisions reflect the PTPEC's decision to only use the cis- and trans- terminology for Chlordane. It is also noted that gamma-Chlordane (CAS# 5566-34-7) is not commercially available as a Certified Reference Material (CRM) or as a neat chemical.
Request for Public Comment
PTPEC is soliciting public comments on the changes outlined above and highlighted in magenta in the updated FoPT tables linked below. The comment period will remain open for 45 days, closing on July 11, 2025.
