Request for Comments on the Draft Standard EL-V1M4-2025-Rev. 3.0 General Requirements for Laboratories Performing Environmental Analyses; Quality Systems for Chemical Testing

The TNI Chemistry Expert Committee is providing for your review and comment the following Draft Standard for EL V1M4.

  • A Draft Standard for EL-V1M4-2025-Rev.3.0 that has been prepared in response to comments received and in support of Laboratories Performing Environmental Analyses. (click here to view (PDF))
  • This revision of EL-V1M4 reflects an update of the standard and provides both clarity and consistency with other TNI Standard Volumes and Modules as well as addressing all SIR received by the committee. Changes also reflect changes consistent with technology and regulatory updates. Justification for the changes presented in the DS for EL-V1M4-2025-Rev. 3.0 is provided on the required Justification form. (click here to view (Word))
  • The comment period will be open for ninety (90) calendar days, in accordance with Consensus Standards Development SOP 2-100 Rev 4.3, located at https://nelac-institute.org/docs/sop-policy/SOP-2-100-Rev4.3-CSDP-StdDev-240312FINAL.pdf.

The NELAP Accreditation Council may request a thirty (30) day extension of this comment period. Please send your comments and any proposed revised text to both Michelle Wade, the Chemistry Expert Committee Chair, ([email protected]) and Robert Wyeth, the Program Administrator for the Proficiency Testing Expert Committee ([email protected]). All comments will be tracked by the PA, and you will be notified of the committee's receipt of any comments as well as the committee's response to your comment(s) after all comments are considered and addressed if deemed persuasive.

You are invited to provide comments on the revised EL-V1M4. We do ask that you provide alternative wording that would address your concern whenever possible. As with prior revisions of TNI standards, all comments will be ruled either persuasive, non-persuasive, or editorial by the committee, and addressed accordingly. If substantive/controversial and persuasive comments are received, a revised Draft Standard will be re-presented for public comment.
